1.1The regatta will be governed by the “rules” as defined in the Racing
Rules of Sailing.
1.2The YNZ Safety Regulations Part 5 Category C shall apply.
1.3All skippers to read the Marakura Yacht Club’s Risk Management Document that will be included in the Sailing Instructions.
1.4Skippers must sign the indemnity declaration on the entry form.
2.0Additional Safety Requirements:
2.1All participants must wear life jackets while racing.
2.2All yachts must carry a minimum of 10 litres of outboard fuel.
2.3All yachts must carry two red hand-held flares and one orange hand held smoke torch. (Dates to be current.)
2.4VHF Radios will be carried
2.5Yachts will be subject to a safety inspection.
2.6Safety Officers have the right to exclude a yacht, which fails to meet all safety requirements.
2.7All boats must be crewed by a minimum of two adults.
3.0Eligibility & Entry:
3.1The race is open to all Trailer Yachts 5.9 metres and over, including Maxis.
3.2Advance entries will be accepted by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of $45.Entry will be accepted up until the Skippers meeting 10.00 a.m. 23rdFebruary 2013.
3.3To be eligible to compete in the Te Anau Downs Classic each Skipper shall be a financial member of a club recognised by Yachting New Zealand.
4.0Schedule of events:
4.1Registrations will be taken at the Te Anau Boating Club Marina from9.00 a.m. on 23rd February 2013.
4.2Briefing 10.00 a.m. – Skippers Meeting at Te Anau Boating Club Marina.
4.3Racing schedule – start time will be announced at skippers meeting
4.4Race 1 – Te Anau Blue Gum Point to Te Anau Downs.
4.5Race 2 – Start time to be advised at Skippers Meeting Sunday 24th, 9.00 a.m.at Te Anau Downs.
5.0Sailing Instructions:
5.1Sailing Instructions will be available on registration.
6.0Racing Area:
6.1Will be held on Lake Te Anau.
7.0Courses to be sailed:
7.1Courses to be sailed will be advised at briefing.
8.0Handicaps & Ratings:
8.1Current NZTYA rating numbers will be used for all boats at the discretion of the handicapper.
9.0Prizing giving:
9.1Prize giving will be held as soon as possible after last race on Sunday afternoon.
10.0General information:
10.1As sudden unexpected weather changes can happen, warm and wet weather clothing should be carried.
