TE ANAU DOWNS CLASSIC

23^rd & 24^th  February 2013

Venue:  Lake Te Anau

The Organising Authority is Marakura Yacht Club

1.0                Rules:

1.1          The regatta will be governed by the “rules” as defined in the Racing

               Rules of Sailing.

1.2                The YNZ Safety Regulations Part 5 Category C shall apply.

1.3                All skippers to read the Marakura Yacht Club’s Risk Management Document that will be included in the Sailing Instructions.

1.4                Skippers must sign the indemnity declaration on the entry form.

2.0                Additional Safety Requirements:

2.1                All participants must wear life jackets while racing.

2.2                All yachts must carry a minimum of 10 litres of outboard fuel.

2.3                All yachts must carry two red hand-held flares and one orange hand held smoke torch. (Dates to be current.)

2.4                VHF Radios will be carried

2.5                Yachts will be subject to a safety inspection.

2.6                Safety Officers have the right to exclude a yacht, which fails to meet all safety requirements.

2.7                All boats must be crewed by a minimum of two adults.

3.0                Eligibility & Entry:

3.1                The race is open to all Trailer Yachts 5.9 metres and over, including Maxis.

3.2                Advance entries will be accepted by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of $45.  Entry will be accepted up until the Skippers meeting 10.00 a.m. 23^rd  February 2013.

3.3                To be eligible to compete in the Te Anau Downs Classic each Skipper shall be a financial member of a club recognised by Yachting New Zealand.

4.0                Schedule of events:

4.1                Registrations will be taken at the Te Anau Boating Club Marina from       9.00 a.m. on 23rd February 2013.

4.2                Briefing 10.00 a.m. – Skippers Meeting at Te Anau Boating Club Marina.

4.3                Racing schedule – start time will be announced at skippers meeting

4.4                Race 1 – Te Anau Blue Gum Point to Te Anau Downs.

4.5                Race 2 – Start time to be advised at Skippers Meeting Sunday 24^th, 9.00 a.m.   at    Te Anau Downs.

5.0                Sailing Instructions:

5.1                Sailing Instructions will be available on registration.

6.0                Racing Area:

6.1                Will be held on Lake Te Anau.

7.0                Courses to be sailed:

7.1                Courses to be sailed will be advised at briefing.

8.0                Handicaps & Ratings:

8.1                Current NZTYA rating numbers will be used for all boats at the discretion of the handicapper.

9.0                Prizing giving:

9.1                Prize giving will be held as soon as possible after last race on Sunday afternoon.

10.0            General information:

10.1            As sudden unexpected weather changes can happen, warm and wet weather clothing should be carried.

10.2            Camp overnight at the Downs.

10.3          BYO Barbecue food and refreshments.
